Paris Trip

Jan 07 2015

Second and Third Year French students are beginning 2015 with fond memories of their recent trip to Paris. Prior to Christmas, forty students, along with their French teacher Mme Cadinot and teachers Ms. Dunne, Ms. Egan and Mr. Mc Assey spent 4 days discovering the famous landmarks Paris has to offer. The tour began with a climb to the top floor of the Eiffel Tower followed by a gourmet meal in a Parisian restaurant. The second day encompassed a morning of sightseeing in the magnificent area of Montmartre where students visited the Sacré Coeur and then enjoyed a guided tour of the city taking in the Arc de Triomphe, and the Cathedral of Notre Dame to name but a few landmarks. This was followed by a trip to the Stade de France. For many students the highlight of the trip was a day spent in Disneyland, where students enjoyed the spectacular Christmas parade as well as the many attractions there. Other students felt the highlight was the ride on the Métro and the night-time Christmas markets on the Champs Elysées. The trip on the Bateaux Mouches on the river Seine was a wonderful opportunity to visit Paris by night and was enjoyed by everybody. Before leaving Paris, students also visited the Louvre museum, marvelling at the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. Upon return to school, students have found the trip has increased their awareness and interest in the French language and its culture.
