A group of 24 Transition Year girls went to the National Sports Campus to compete in the Ultimate Frisbee Girls Cup on Tuesday the 20th of Februrary. They had a great day and all participated well in the event.

Éanna, who is just in Third Year participated in the National Senior Indoor Championships last weekend in the NIA Abbotstown. He was one of the youngest athletes to compete. He ran in the same heat as Israel Olantunde, the National Champion and Irish record holder. Éanna ran a PB of 7.37 seconds in the 60m sprint and will now go on to participate in the Leinster Indoor Championships in Athlone at U17 level. Pictured with Israel, who kindly gave his time to speak with Éanna before he competed in the final and won the gold medal again for the second consecutive year.

Student Council members shared a cup of coffee/tea today as they discussed two school policies which they are currently reviewing. They are making suggestions and giving feedback on our schools Anti-bullying Policy and our Code of Behaviour. Many thanks to the students for getting involved in this important part of school life and giving the input of our student voice to continue to make our school a better place for everyone. Congratulations to Third Year student Síofra, who completed the Crean Challenge 2024 in Iceland. This was an expedition hike of over eighteen kilometers in minus eight degrees.

Congratulations to Fifth Year student Julia, who has been selected for the Final of the All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad (AILO). Thanks to Ms. Cumiskey for organising the Preliminary Round and well done to those students that put themselves forward for the two hour problem solving challenge.

A combination of hurlers from Presentation College and Gaelcholaiste Carlow came out the winning-side of a tough encounter with Knockbeg College on Friday afternoon on a score-line of 5.4 to 3.5.
Played at the Presentation grounds, the home team trailed by four points at halftime as Knockbeg dominated the early proceedings. However, second-half goals from Brian Louw and Ben Nolan proved crucial in overturning the deficit, sparking joyous scenes at the end as players celebrated a hard-fought victory. The Board of Management implements a system of Academic Awards to honour the top achieving students in the Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate examinations. Academic achievement among the students is a top priority in Presentation College and they perform consistently at a very high level in terms of results in the Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate examinations each summer. This is due in no small manner to the hard work ethos of the students and their teachers, coupled with the support and encouragement of their parents.
The Junior Cycle recipients were – Michael Duke, Kate Kumpiranon, Amy McDonald, Esther Ogbegile, Lauren O’Reilly, Chloe Ryan, Emma Stevens and Sophie Stevens.
The Leaving Certificate recipients and their current course of studies were - Harry Feeney (Biomedical Science, UG), Lauren Hennessy (Pharmaceutical Science, SETU), Megan Hosey (Pharmacy, UU), Oliwier Jakubiec (Software Development, SETU), Brandon Jaroszczak (Software Development, SETU), Clare Miller (Bachelor of Education, MU), Cillian Moore (Bachelor of Commerce, UCD), Alannah O’Brien (Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Chemistry, MU), Dáire O’Sullivan (Engineering, UG) and Tommaso Stynes (Bachelor of Arts, UG).
