Colm Broderick, a past Head Boy of Presentation College, Carlow, will be taking part in a celebration of the life and work of the late Liam O’Flynn in the National Concert Hall on 15^th March. Na Píobairí Uilleann recently gave Colm the honour of taking possession of a set of uilleann pipes made by Leo Rowsome which belonged to the late Liam O’Flynn. The pipes also passed through the hands of Seán Reid and Willie Clancy. Colm is tasked with playing and looking after this wonderful and historic instrument and carrying on its legacy. In 2021 Colm was awarded the Gold Medal on the uilleann pipes at the Seán Ó Riada Bonn Óir competition. Colm will be one of many musicians on the night honouring the late piper. Renowned musicians such as Matt Molloy, Paddy Glackin, Noel Hill and Mary Bergin will also be performing.

Congratulations to former Head Girl and student Meadhbh Broderick on being awarded the very prestigious 'Ad Astra Academy Academic Award’ at University College Dublin recently. Meadhbh is studying ‘Actuarial and Financial Studies’ and was awarded the scholarship on the basis of her exceptional Leaving Certificate. Scholars benefit from a scholarship, mentoring and discipline specific supports, as well as personal and professional development opportunities.

Congratulations to former student Diego Lopez Clarke, who has been awarded the Trinity College Dublin Entrance Exhibition Award. Diego is currentyl studying  ‘Chemical Sciences’ in TCD.

What a better way to start our new term than with our traditional Semaine Française!
We kickstarted the day with Speed dating en Français for Fifth Years, while Transition Years learned about the traditional French boules game and then braved the cold to try it out for themselves. Photos and more news to follow. 🇫🇷

 As part of the Ceiliúradh celebrations, we were delighted to receive the Leading the Way - Lighting the Way Ceist Lantern from St. Leo's College. This lantern is being passed from school to school. It symbolises our common Ceist values. Pictured are our Doireann, our Head Girl and Aaron, our Head Boy along with Principal, Mr Ray Murray and Deputy Principal, Ms Lorraine Gillespie. We now pass the lantern and all it symbolises for our Ceist community to Presentation De La Salle College Bagenalstown.
