Clubs and Societies

We have a strong belief that students should participate in the organisations within the school. Clubs and societies are a huge part of the school and the building of relationships within the school community. Below are just some of the many clubs and societies which operate in the school:

 

AILO PROBLEM SOLVING  This is an international competition. There will be a preliminary round in school in February. The competition involves solving problems and puzzles using language and logic. Presentation College has had several finalists in the past, with two in 2022. BT YOUNG SCIENTIST Each year we enter a number of projects into this competition. In 2020/2021 we were the only Carlow school with a project in the Final. Contact your Science teacher if you are interested.

CAMOGIE


CHESS CLUB  The chess club is open to all and takes place at lunchtime on Thursdays in G2. Please contact Ms Cumiskey or Ms Malone if interested.

 

CHOIR Ms Lyons is the teacher who runs the choir. Click here for choir and music news

 

COMPUTER CLUB  Every lunchtime from 1:15 - 1:50 students can go to the Computer Room (Room 28) where they explore the digital world. Ms Lowry is the teacher who runs this club.  Click here for the latest Computer Club and ICT news

 

COOKING Students are encouraged to enter the many ATHE cookery competitions. 

 

CYCLING PE teachers Mr Homan coordinates the schools' bikes. We have bikes for students to use in PE and for various events. Ms Kavanagh leads the #andshecycles Ambassador team. These are three students selected from TY.

DEBATING We participate in English, Gaeilge and German debating competitions depending on student interest in any particular year.

GAISCE  This is open to Fourth Year students and the coordinator is Ms. Cumiskey. Students work towards their Bronze Medal and are involved in areas of Sport, Community,Skill Development and a Venture (Glendalough). Click here for Gaisce and other TY news

HEAD STRONG This is a group of Transition Years who are interested in promoting positive mental health. The members of the committee work along with Ms Cumiskey and Ms O'Sullivan and usually meet once a week. It is an enjoyable and fun group to be a member of.

LEARNING HUB This is open to First Year students. Learning hub takes place every Tuesday from 4 - 5:30. Students can do their homework and study in a relaxed atmosphere, with support from Transition Year students where required. SCIENCE CLUB  Our Science Club meets on Mondays 1:20 - 1:50 in Room 26 at lunchtime. Members come from all year groups. A science teacher runs the club and students do fun experiments, prepare for competitions and have fun with science. Ms Bradley and Ms Kinsella are the teachers to contact.
