Annual Prize-Giving Awards Ceremony 2022

Our Annual Awards Prize-Giving Ceremony took place recently to recognise all the achievements by our students both academically and through extra-curricular activities throughout the year.
The awards ranged from Sporting Achievements, Musician of the Year, Student of the Year, AILO/AIPO, Student Council, CEIST, Bridin Quinn, Amanda O'Mahony Memorial German Award.
It was very uplifting to recognise the continuous hard work being done by all our staff and students both inside and outside of the classroom, particularly during a most difficult year.

We congratulate all our worthy award winner recipients and thank them for always representing themselves and our school with such pride and honour. We wish them all the very best in their future endeavours.  Click HERE for information on the awards and photos.

What a better way to start our new term than with our traditional Semaine Française!
We kickstarted the day with Speed dating en Français for Fifth Years, while Transition Years learned about the traditional French boules game and then braved the cold to try it out for themselves. Photos and more news to follow. 🇫🇷

Of the nine students who took part in the preliminary round of the All-Ireland Linguistics Olympiad (AILO) on Wednesday 2nd February, we are delighted to announce that two of our students qualified in the top 100 in the whole of Ireland. Two Fifth Year students, Jake Baker and Oliwier Jakubiec have been invited to participate in the All-Ireland National Final on Wednesday March 9th in DCU. A fantastic achievement! ....

German Embassy Visit

Presentation College was delighted to welcome Mr. Robert Henneberg from the German Embassy to our school on Monday 13th September. Whether for travel, education, pleasure or employment, Mr. Henneberg, who speaks fluent English, French and Irish in addition to his native language of German, assured students that it will always be of value to work on one's language skills. There are of course increased opportunities in life for those who speak several languages. We would like to thank the German Embassy for valuing the importance of the young learners of German and French by supporting them with the interesting and educational visit and the gift of books..click on the heading for the full report and photos.

Petit Déjeuner

Our Sixth Year French class got a chance to enjoy their 'Petit Déjeuner Traditionnel' on Wednesday 19th May. It was great to be able to enjoy each other's company outside, all the while being mindful of our 'distanciation sociale'. Wishing all our Sixth Years 'Bonne Chance' over the coming weeks and every best wish for the future.

Congratulations to Eva Kavanagh who reached the Final of the Bi-annual German Olympiad. Eva was the only student from Carlow in the Final. This year the Final  was on-line with the fifteen students from all over Ireland and the judges. Eva took part this week in an online discussion and interview through German. We are still awaiting the results and wish her all the best. The competition is organised by the Goethe-Institut in Dublin.
