Congratulations and well done to First Year students Jakub, Joseph and Zena who are all past pupils from Educate Together National School Carlow and recently made a presentation to the Dail on a project they have been working on since 6th class in primary school. The students were selected to present their project based on "making Carlow a better place for young people". The students highlighted issues such as:

Active Travel; Prioritising People; Biodiversity; Street Art and Social Areas. It is fantastic to see our young people being given the opportunity to use their voice. Well Done!

We are very happy to have bikes for students to use during school in PE class and for special programmes - for example a programme being run for Transition Year students at Presentation College since 2020 in incorporating skills needed for a 'Duathlon' - cycling and running. Cody (Fifth Year) is currently in 2nd place in the Irish National Downhill Mountainbike Series (IDMS). He is competing this weekend in the final round of the IDMS at Glencullen Adventure Park. This year he competed in races across the country from Rostrevor, Co. Down to Shronaboy Farm, Killlarney. Cody is a member of Bree Racing MTB Club. He races Enduro and Downhill. Downhill is definitely his favourite. Wishing Cody the best of luck this weekend.

Green Schools

As part of our Green Schools campaign to increase cycling, workshops were organised for groups of students from First to Fifth Year. These were given by Chiara Hanrahan - Travel Officer with Green Schools. The PE Department were very much involved and were delighted to be able to facilitate this workshop for students.
