Presentation College Comes First in the ISTA in the Senior Quiz Regional Finals

Presentation College Carlow had nine students, three teams taking part in the 2019 ISTA Senior Science Quiz regional finals in Carlow IT during Science week on Thursday evening. There were twenty three teams involved from Carlow, Kilkenny, Kildare and Laois. The winning team on the night was from Presentation College Carlow and the students are delighted to be going to the National Finals in Trinity College College Dublin..

Congratulations to Emma  from First Year who was nominated Carlow’s SHINE Hero. The competition which was organised by Beat and the Shona Foundation involved looking for inspirational girls from around the county. Emma has donated sixteen inches of her hair on TWO occasions to Rapunzel Foundation. This foundation specialises in making wigs for girls who have lost their hair due to illness....

Congratulations to Second Year student Megan Hosey, who received an award for her entry in the Creative Ireland “Empowering Women Art Competition”. Megan was awarded second place in the competition and received a €100 One 4 All Gift Voucher at a Ceremony in Carlow College on International Women’s Day.  First Year student Ally O’Brien also had her entry on display.

Julie Becherova is Selected for the AILO Final in March

AILO is the acronym for The All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad. This is a problem solving competition, which uses obscure and unfamiliar languages. This year the languages were: Oscan, Pitjantjatjara, Slovene, Maltese and Ndebele. Congratulations to Julie Becherova who is one of the top one hundred students from all over Ireland.
