Our school was delighted to be selected for the BLAST Arts-in-Education Residency Programme, an initiative by the Department of Education developed to foster creativity in schools. It is Part of the Creative Youth Plan 2023-2027, this programme connects students with professional artists, encouraging collaboration, critical thinking, and innovation.
After submitting our application, we were thrilled to be chosen and paired with artist Sonya Weston. Our Transition Year students had the opportunity to participate in a two-day workshop, where they explored a range of printing techniques. One of the highlights was their introduction to gelli printing, a creative, fun and experimental form of printmaking.
This hands-on experience allowed students to fully engage in the artistic process—something that isn’t always possible within the constraints of the regular school timetable. The workshop provided a valuable space for self-expression, creativity, and skill-building.
We are very grateful for this opportunity and look forward to more creative collaborations in the future!
