Presentation College Carlow hosted CBS Carlow in a big local derby at half one on Monday 7th of November in tricky conditions with heavy rain and strong winds. CBS started the game on the front foot with the ball getting played across the Pres box which leads to an open goal, but CBS don’t capitalize on the opportunity. CBS continue on the front foot putting the Pres backline made up of two sets of brothers under extreme pressure coming closest when Peter Grogan stepped up from 25 yards but was denied by a good Aaron Power save. Pres began to fight their way into the game after 20 minutes with an impressive ball from Adam Shaw which plays through James Ingrim, but the CBS goalkeeper Ben McCarron makes a good save. Both sides tried to grab hold of the game but neither managed to find a goal before the half time whistle.

CBS kicks off the second half playing with the wind Scott Roycroft tries his luck from the halfway line from tip, but Aaron Power makes a routine save. Pres respond when James Ingrim finds himself through on goal, but Ben McCarron makes himself big and pulls off a fantastic save. The deadlock was finally broken in the 50th minute when CBS broke on the counterattack, seeing Scott Roycroft pick up the ball from distance and curl it into the far-right corner. Pres put CBS backline under pressure for the next 10 minutes but cannot find a way through. The Pres pressure finally paid off in the 65th minute when Shane Duffy whips in a great cross landing to Danny Mcgrath’s feet who then laid it off to James Ingria and Ingrim made no mistake in finishing to equalize. The game got intense for the last thirty minutes with both sides looking to get a winner. In the 75th minute the ball again fell to Scott Roycroft who shot from outside to box only to again find the bottom right corner for his brace. Pres had a great chance to equalize late on when they found themselves in a 3 on 2 situation but could not capitalize with Paul Fitzgeralds shot saved comfortably by Ben McCarron. Despite the late pressure and chances from Pres, CBS held on winning the game 2-1. Best for Presentation College Carlow were James Ingrim, Danny Mcgrath and Aaron Dorgan. Best for CBS Carlow were Ben McCarron, Scott Roycroft and Patrick Kavanagh.
