Junior Hurling

Oct 22 2017

Our Junior hurlers combined with the Gaelcholáiste and are through to the C1 final after a very impressive display against Coláiste Eoin in the semi-final. On a fine day for hurling in Hacketstown our boys hit the ground the running with a quick fire 1-2 coming from the stick of Aaron Moore. However Coláiste Eoin settled back in to game and responded with two goals of their own. It was tit for tat for the rest the half as Moore netted a penalty and his third point to establish a two point lead approaching half time. Scores were hard to come by in the second half as both sets of backs got on top. Andrew Murphy was a strong presence at centre back all afternoon and broke up a number of the home team’s attacks when scores looked a certainty. Entering the final few minutes the boys in blue led by the slenderest of margins as Coláiste Eoin searched for the equalising point. With time almost up, a long ball sent high into our half was excellently caught by Cormac McElligott. The impressive midfielder was subsequently fouled as the ref blew the final whistle drawing to a close an absorbing contest with a score line reading:
Presentation College/Gaelcholáiste. 4-9
Coláiste Eoin. 4-8
