Our three Transition Year Cycling Ambassadors, Anna, Tara and Amy have organised a biking sessions for around fifteen Transition Year girls. This one took place on January 18th from 11.45 - 1.05 . The Ambassadors are organising these with the assistance of Ms Kavanagh as part of their #andshecycles Ambassador Programme. We are delighted to announce that the PE Department have purchased ten bicycles and helmets for students to use in school. We would like to thank the Green Schools Committee for promoting the introduction of cycling to the curriculum. We are currently working on the #Travel Theme.

Congratulations to two of our former students on being awarded an academic scholarship for the academic year 2021/22 by Institute of Technology Carlow. The Scholarship Winners are: Nurlan Kennedy, Bachelor of Science (Honours) in TV and Media Production and Jack Nulty, Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Games Development. Leaving Certificate Year: 2021. We are delighted to celebrate their success and wish them all the best in their studies and future.

We had three winners in the Tinryland Christmas Fair Art Competition. Second Place: Isabelle Mc Cormack in First Year. Liam Lawton’s song ‘One Step Beyond’ was recently recorded by First, Fifth and Sixth Year students in honour of Nano Nagle and the Presentation Sisters. Our very talented Head Boy, Aaron Smith, recorded the song and created the video, in addition to singing the song with his classmates. Music Department students decided to record the song as we couldn’t have our usual Presentation Day celebration this year. The recording is dedicated to three Presentation Sisters from our local schools who passed away in 2021 Sr. Patricia O’Byrne, Sr. Kathleen Hendron and Sr. Mary Keary, and all the Presentation Sisters around the world.

Congratulations to Ellie Dowling, who has been selected for the Ireland girls under 17 Basketball panel.

Congratulations also to Mr Homan, who is to be honoured at the 2021 Federation of Irish Sport Awards. He is a national winner for his voluntary work promoting basketball.
Well done to our Prefect Leaders, who took part in a Charity 5KM Walk today in aid of 'Holy Angels Day Care Centre' in Carlow. Even the wind and rain did not dampen their spirits...

On Wednesday the 8th December, we hosted Féilte Scoile in our school. This was organised by the Teaching and Learning team in the school and Coordinated by Janet Bradley (Teaching and Learning Co-ordinator) and Katie Barrett (Junior Cycle Co-ordinator) Féilte is run by the Teaching Council of Ireland every year and attracts many teachers from all over Ireland to showcase their Teaching and Learning methodologies.
In our Féilte Scoile, each subject department showcased their Teaching and Learning Methodologies and some Assessment Methodologies including feedback. Teachers spent a number of minutes at each stand and saw how they could incorporate their strategies into their subjects.
We were joined on the day by our Chairman of the Board of Management Fr. Conn O'Maoldhomhnaigh who visited every stand to see these methodologies.
Overall, it was a very successful day with positive feedback from staff. It is hoped to run this event again in the future.
The Teaching and Learning team would like to thank Mr. Murray, Ms. Gillespie and Mr. Carley along with all teachers for their support on this initiative.
