Annual Prize-Giving Awards Ceremony 2022

Our Annual Awards Prize-Giving Ceremony took place recently to recognise all the achievements by our students both academically and through extra-curricular activities throughout the year.
The awards ranged from Sporting Achievements, Musician of the Year, Student of the Year, AILO/AIPO, Student Council, CEIST, Bridin Quinn, Amanda O'Mahony Memorial German Award.
It was very uplifting to recognise the continuous hard work being done by all our staff and students both inside and outside of the classroom, particularly during a most difficult year.

We congratulate all our worthy award winner recipients and thank them for always representing themselves and our school with such pride and honour. We wish them all the very best in their future endeavours.  Click HERE for information on the awards and photos.

Colm Broderick, a past Head Boy of Presentation College, Carlow, will be taking part in a celebration of the life and work of the late Liam O’Flynn in the National Concert Hall on 15th March. Na Píobairí Uilleann recently gave Colm the honour of taking possession of a set of uilleann pipes made by Leo Rowsome which belonged to the late Liam O’Flynn. The pipes also passed through the hands of Seán Reid and Willie Clancy. Colm is tasked with playing and looking after this wonderful and historic instrument and carrying on its legacy. In 2021 Colm was awarded the Gold Medal on the uilleann pipes at the Seán Ó Riada Bonn Óir competition. Colm will be one of many musicians on the night honouring the late piper. Renowned musicians such as Matt Molloy, Paddy Glackin, Noel Hill and Mary Bergin will also be performing.

Liam Lawton’s song ‘One Step Beyond’ was recently recorded by First, Fifth and Sixth Year students in honour of Nano Nagle and the Presentation Sisters. Our very talented Head Boy, Aaron Smith, recorded the song and created the video, in addition to singing the song with his classmates. Music Department students decided to record the song as we couldn’t have our usual Presentation Day celebration this year. The recording is dedicated to three Presentation Sisters from our local schools who passed away in 2021 Sr. Patricia O’Byrne, Sr. Kathleen Hendron and Sr. Mary Keary, and all the Presentation Sisters around the world.

O Holy Night Performance

This Christmas we could not sing together and make music together like we look forward to and enjoy so much every year in Presentation College, Carlow. We felt we could not let the year that was 2020 close without performing a firm favourite of ours from all the Christmas carols, ‘O Holy Night’. For the last ten years the annual carol service in Presentation College has finished with ‘O Holy Night’ and we really wanted to create something special that could be shared with the whole school community as 2020 draws to a close. We are fortunate to have many very talented musicians in Presentation College and this video showcases just a few of them. Click on the picture above to listen and enjoy. Report on Berlin Trip by Sean O’Driscoll

On my way back from Berlin, Germany I decided to write a report on my experience taking part in the theatre workshop run by the Goethe Institute. This is how it went!

It began on a cold Tuesday morning in Berlin where the rest of the Irish team and I made our way over from the hostel to the theatre. In the theatre we...

Students from Second, Transition and Fifth Year have been very busy over the last number of weeks preparing for the recent production of Blood Brothers. The production was a staff and student collaboration and we were delighted that all the expertise was to be found from within our school community. Countless hours of hard work, encouragement, rehearsals went into the creation of this year’s School Musical from all of the people involved in the production.....
