Congratulations to Second Year student Doireann Broderick, Safer Internet Day (SID) Ambassador, who participated in a training day at Facebook HQ. The aim of Safer Internet Day is to promote better, safer use of the internet by young people through leading awareness-raising campaigns in schools across Ireland. In partnership with the Irish Secondary Schools Students’ Union (ISSU), Webwise provided online and offline training to the youth ambassadors to get them involved in Safer Internet Day, 6th February.
Doireann was one of almost one hundred students from around Ireland who, on 10th January, gathered together for the Safer Internet Day (SID) Training Ambassador Programme in Facebook HQ. These students volunteered or were nominated by their schools, to become Safer Internet Day Ambassadors. The SID Ambassador programme is about reaching out to post-primary students, encouraging and supporting them to address the issue of cyberbullying and other areas in internet safety by leading awareness-raising campaigns in their clubs, schools, and communities. In partnership with the Irish Secondary Schools Students’ Union (ISSU), Webwise provided online and offline training to the youth ambassadors to get them involved in Safer Internet Day. The aim is to make Safer Internet Day a success in communities and schools across Ireland.
