Second and Third Year French students returned before Christmas from their trip to Paris, where forty students accompanied by their French teacher Mme Cadinot and teachers Ms Egan, Mr McAssey and Mr Murphy spent four days discovering the famous landmarks that Paris has to offer.
The tour began with a climb to the top floor of the Eiffel Tower, where students were amazed by the Parisian sunset and the fantastic views that can be enjoyed from the summit. Following their strenuous efforts, students then tucked into some delicious crêpes in a local crêperie. The second day encompassed a morning of sightseeing in the magnificent area of Montmartre where students visited the Sacré Coeur and then enjoyed a guided tour of the city taking in the Arc de Triomphe, and the Cathedral of Notre Dame to name but a few landmarks. This was followed by a trip to the Stade de France, where students had the opportunity to sit in the seat of the French President M. Franҫois Hollande!
For many students the highlight of the trip was a day spent in Disneyland, where students enjoyed the spectacular Christmas parade as well as the many attractions there. For others it was the trip on the Bateaux Mouches on the river Seine, which was a wonderful opportunity to visit Paris by night and was enjoyed by everybody. Before leaving Paris, students also visited the Louvre museum, marvelling at the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. Upon return to school, students have found the trip has increased their awareness and interest in the French language and its culture.
