The school’s St. Vincent de Paul group, otherwise known as The Aloysius Foundation, have done tremendous work so far this school year. They were very active in the run up to Christmas, both in school and in the local community. Some highlights of their activities included creating and painting the backdrop for the Christmas window display of the local SVP shop on Tullow Street and organising a Christmas food appeal amongst the school community. Two very large boxes of food items were collected and delivered to the SVP hamper depot. Students then helped over two days to organise and pack the SVP food hampers for distribution to local families over the Christmas period.
Also, on December 16th members of the group, accompanied by the school choir went carol singing in Hadden's Centre on Tullow Street to raise awareness and funds for the Carlow branch of SVP. Their fabulous singing was so captivating that the students were then invited to sing the following week in The Fairgreen Shopping Centre. A total of €757.11 was raised over the two days.
The Aloysius Foundation would like to thank the public for their generosity during the collections. The coming weeks and months are looking to be just as busy for the SVP group. Various tasks and activities are already lined up.
