Nine Fifth Year students: Dylan Dooley, Gráinne Byrne, Aoife O'Sullivan, Ciara Monaghan, Caoimhe Doyle, Ailbhe Dempsey, Elizabeth Brophy, Luke Hovenden and Clodagh McHugh from Presentation College, Carlow were recently awarded The Pope John Paul II Award at a meaningful awards ceremony which took place on Friday 5th February in Holy Family Church, Askea. The ceremony was attended by students from 41 parishes and 28 schools across the Kildare-Leighlin Diocese. The award recognises the significant contribution made by students in their local community and parish through their community awareness and parish involvement. The award which students began in the Transition Year Programme lasted fourteen months in total and students were awarded on four different levels, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Papal Cross Awards. A total of 281 awardees were presented with their respective awards by Bishop Denis Nulty in what can only be described as a wonderful and very uplifting ceremony!
