On Friday, 2nd October, 26 Transition Year students in Presentation College, Carlow met with Debbie O’Halloran, the Regional Youth Development Officer with Saint Vincent De Paul, to set up a Young Saint Vincent De Paul Committee. Under the Youth Development Programme, Presentation College is the first school in Carlow to set up a SVP Conference group. Students will run the committee themselves, with the help of Debbie, and with each student playing a vital role. Students decided to name the committee the Aloysius Foundation: Aloysius being the Patron Saint of young students. This committee, throughout the school year, will fundraise and raise awareness for Saint Vincent De Paul. Events will include table quizzes, bag packing, the annual Christmas Appeal and much more. Students are very excited to be a part of this group, and they are willing to work hard for this great cause.
