Jordan Egan is a remarkable student who has just completed Transition Year in our school. 

Jordan is currently living with a neurological condition, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), that is negatively affecting her ability to function normally. The effect of this is that she is unable to read or write more than a few words at a time, and her concentration levels are impaired. Physically, she is suffering with a chronic headache, constant nausea and extreme fatigue. She occasionally requires the use of her wheelchair due to weakness and fatigue.

However Jordan is determined that this condition will not stop her from participating as fully as possible in the normal things and everyday activities of students and young people her own age. There is no cure for EDS and treatment is supportive. Jordan has to travel regularly to London to receive treatment to help alleviate her constant pain.

Jordan's mother, Karen, composed a song - Easy for an Angel - which Jordan sings and the recording of which is available to download on iTunes for €0.99, Amazon and many more download websites. We are asking all members of our school community, friends and family to purchase Easy for an Angel, with all proceeds going towards Jordan's medical and travel expenses.

Jordan and Karen appeared as guests on Saturday Night with Miriam on RTE1 on 6th July and spoke eloquently of Jordan's situation and how she is coping with it. A recorded version of Jordan beautifully singing Easy for an Angel was also played to rapturous applause from the audience. As a special gesture for Jordan, who is one of his biggest fans, Miriam had also invited George Hook to appear with them on her show.
