Brussels recently played host to formal and non-formal educators from across the continent for the Annual Educators Event (April 22–23), followed by the official launch of the 2026 European Youth Week on April 24. Ms Gibbons was very proud to represent Presentation College as an EPAS Ambassador at the Educators Event and the 2026 #EUYouthWeek kick-off. Over 1,000 young people gathered to go "All in for Change" with a focus on Solidarity & Fairness. As Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reminded us, "Europe is a shared vision"! ⚡️

On Friday the sixth of March our Second Year CSPE students and some of our senior Politics and Society students gathered in the library to learn about the life and work of an MEP. Billy Keppeher MEP answered questions and kept the students engaged in an informative morning. Many thanks to Mr O'Mahoney for organising. Thanks also to Mr McDermott for many of the photos. Ms Byrne's 2AS CSPE class had made posters which were on display and the EU flag as well as the Irish flag were flying at the entrance of the school to mark the occasion.

Ms Byrne is currently representing Presentation College at an International eTwinning conference with German teachers from accross the EU in Vienna. She will be organising a link with other schools and we look forward to finding out more.

This Friday Ms Byrne's Second Year 2AR CSPE class organised an EU Awareness day for their CBA. Please see the noticeboard at the Askea entrance. There was face painting, quizzes and prizes. Included at the top of the display is a phrase in many EU languages. Belle made a Welcome to Presentation College, Carlow Video which can be seen by clicking on the link. Today a group of lucky students met Billy Kelleher MEP to ask and learn about the European Parliament. We had a representative form the Sixth Year Politics and Society class and four from the Fifth Year class. A group of First Year CSPE students were also in attendance. Topics included: Artificial Intelligence, Agriculture, Global Warming, The History of the EU, The value of Languages. Students were encouraged to become active citizens and learned that this is often the starting point in becoming a Politician. We are very appreciative of him making time in his busy schedule to visit Presentation College. Thanks to Dylan for raising the Irish and EU flags at the entrance of the school to honour the occasion. Students look forward to sharing the information with their Politics and other CSPE classes.
