The French flag flew high once again recently, as students in ‘Presentation College’ were immersed in French culture and language, as our annual “Semaine Française” began. Walking through the main corridor, one’s curiosity was aroused with posters, flags and suitable décor, representing our interest in the French way of life. Face-painters at the ready, signs translated into the French language, and a general spirit of camaraderie throughout the school: La Semaine Française a commençé!
Throughout the week, all French students enjoyed a variety of activities, from a games morning to treasure hunting, to trying to beat the clock by placing French cities on the map as quickly as possible!
One of this year’s highlights was the new addition of a fashion show. Third Year students felt like they were on the catwalks of Paris as they showed off their very inventive creations! While Fifth year students took part in French speed-dating, which they found very helpful in improving their confidence in speaking en français.
Ahead of their trip to Tanzania, the 16 students who will be travelling there in October, held a Crêpe Morning, where they each made and sold their delicious crêpes to our school community. In total they raised over €500 which will be donated to the Teretta foundation in support of its mission to help vulnerable children in Tanzania.
Overall, the week was a tremendous success. French teacher, Ms. Bowden said the week was undoubtedly educational as well as enjoyable. From sports to treasure hunting, “la Semaine Française” allowed each student to become more accustomed to the French culture and way of life. Vive le français!

On Friday, our Student Council will host our first Walk In My Shoes event. You are all asked to come to school in your PE uniform wearing funky shoes!
