The first of our Garda Transition Year Work Experience Programmes for this academic year finished up today.The week, facilitated by our Community Policing Unit, saw four students from Presentation College complete the programme. 

The week consisted of the students visiting the Garda College in Templemore, the local District and Circuit Courts and the local Fire Station. A tour of Carlow Garda Station proved very popular with the students, who got to see the inner workings of a busy District Headquarters and all the equipment used daily. The students also heard from some of our specialised units, including the Detective & Drugs Unit, Scenes of Crime Unit, Criminal Intelligence Officer, Roads Policing Unit, Electronic Media Examiner.

The programme was brought to a close by Superintendent Anthony Farrell, who presented each participant with a Certificate of Achievement.Finally, a big thank you to Carlow Gardaí for providing a very worthwhile experience for our students.  #CommunityPolicing
