Huge Congratulations to Amy Nolan from the Leaving Certificate class of 2025 at Presentation College. We are delighted that Amy Nolan has been awarded the Helen Flynn Memorial Scholarship for 2025. She is studying International Relations in Dublin City University.
Helen Flynn (née Ryan) was the managing director of HIRECO Ltd, having worked her way up through a male-dominated industry, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues, clients and business partners. As a mark of huge respect after her death, the company, under the leadership of Pat Carson, generously committed €100,000 over ten years to fund an educational scholarship in Helen’s name.
Helen was born in St Mullins, so the scholarship honours her legacy and supports young women from her native county to pursue a career in business/leadership.
Helen was a successful businesswoman who steered a company in a male-dominated field. Helen has left a lasting legacy after she sadly passed away in 2022. The 2025 recipient of the Helen Flynn Memorial Award is Amy Nolan - a past student of Presentation College.
Amy completed an application process prior to the Leaving Certificate. This included submitting references from Ms Gráinne Fogarty (Business), Mr Vinnie Homan (PE / Basketball Coach) and Mr Ray Murray (Principal). The photo of Amy was taken in her final weeks at Presentation College, when she was awarded the Basketball Trophy.
Early September the Selection Panel, chaired by Mr Pat Carson CE of HIRECO interviewed Amy. “The Panel was extremely impressed with Amy and very pleased to recommend her as the successful candidate. Amy very much reflects the essence of the bursary and HIRECO is delighted to support her. Amy will receive €10,000 to support her third level educational journey.”
