Well done to our very own F1 teams Autolaunch Racing and Renaissance Racing for winning the national finals! Renaissance Racing achieved first place in the junior category as well as picking up the awards for “Best Use of Social Media” and “Best Verbal Presentation.” Ignite Racing from TY also picked up the award for “Fastest F1-Type Car” with a time of 1.048 seconds over the 20m track……but the biggest congratulations go to Autolaunch Racing who claimed first place in the senior category, also becoming the Overall National Champions.  Autolaunch will now go on to the World Finals in Abu Dhabi later this year. We wish you the best of luck!

The First Year Business classes had a great time on their trip when they travelled to Dublin and went to Butlers Chocolate Factory and then to Liffey Valley shopping centre afterwards. They had great fun as they got to discover how chocolate is made and where and when it was invented. They got a tour of the factory and museum and then got to paint their very own chocolate teddy bears. They got many different samples of different chocolate and also watched a video about the history of Butlers Chocolate Factory. We also want to thank all the teachers who arranged the trip and to Butlers for the amazing experience.

 

Congratulations to everybody who ran in Kilkenny on Friday,  2^nd May !!! Everybody did brilliantly!

 The medal winners were:       Torik Adegoke, who won gold in 75m hurdles and also set a new record.

                                                Ben Dorgan, who won silver in 1100m.

                                                Sean Deay, who won gold in 200m with a new record and also won silver in 100m

                                                Scott Cooper, who won bronze in 75m hurdles and also won gold in 500m.

                                                Niall Harvey, who won gold in 800m.

                                                Laura Ward, who won gold in 800m with a new record.

                                                The Junior Relay team of Niall Harvey, Tom Pollard, Ayo Oke and Sean Deay won gold and set a new record.

                                                The Minor Relay team of Scott Cooper, Ben Dorgan and Torik Adegoke won silver.

David Ward from 1A1 happens to be 4th fastest child in Ireland! He participated in the All-Ireland Track 800m and finished 4th. We would like to congratulate him on his great achievement! We would like also wish him good luck in future races!

Don't forget to bring in your P.E gear on Friday, 16^th as it’s our School Sports Day! We will all be getting active and we will miss out on a day’s worth of school work too! Hopefully everyone has a good day, and fingers crossed the weather is good!

From Monday, April 28^th to Friday, May 2^nd we celebrated Active School Week!

On Tuesday, May 6^th all First Year Science classes travelled to Clogrennan Woods in Killeshin. The students walked around the wood, inspecting plants and animals.

 

Next Monday and Tuesday, May 12^th and 13^th the First Year Business classes will travel to Butlers Chocolate Factory and Liffey Valley in Dublin. Ms. Gibbons’ “Red Block” class and Ms. Byrne’s “Green Block” class will travel there on the Monday and Ms. Gibbons’ “Yellow Block” class will travel on the Tuesday.

 

On Thursday, May 15^th all First Year History classes will travel to the Irish National Heritage Park in Wexford for a tour of the park and then go for lunch. 

French students are eagerly anticipating and also busy preparing for our annual French Week which will take place from Monday 24^th of March. There will be a variety of events taking place throughout the week for all French students including a French play “ La visite” for Third Years, a visit to the GBS Theatre to see the film “Les Intouchables” for Fifth and Sixth year students. Both First and Six Year students will in enjoy ‘petit dejeuner francais’ and the Second years french students will take part in a treasure hunt. There will also be an art competition based on this years theme “Paris”with a prize for junior  and senior students. All students should contact their French teachers  Ms.Cadinot, Ms.Owens or Ms.Jully for further details and all French students are encouraged to participate in the various events. Vive la France!!
