Congratulations to our German students who mentored by Ms Byrne represented themselves, Presentation College and Ireland in an International German / Sustainability competition - Ökoscoop organised by the Goethe Institut in London. The team was lead by Páidí and the team members were Zahin, Rose, Martin and Abyan. The final stage of the competition was an online Zoom Press Conference on Friday. Presentation College spoke about our school Re-Turn system - see: Die Grünen Flaschen.pdf and answered questions in German from the other schools in our group. We had excellent feedback and are now awaiting the results following all of the other Press Conferences. Click on the heeading for more photos!

Our school is currently working on the Green Schools Global Citizenship - Litter and Waste Theme. Some of our Green School members got involved with the fifth edition of Green-Schools TLDR: Global Goals Through Art engagement. We are delighted to that one of our student''s entry was voted as a winner in the following category: Evelina - Best Message (Junior Category). Evelina has been presented with her prize - a One4All voucher to the value of €125. Congratulations and well done to the members for their contribution to Green-Schools Global Goals Bookless Club Engagement.

Huge congratulations to Abyan, Páidí, Rose and Zahin, who are representing Ireland in a German Sustainability competition organised by the Goethe-Institut, London. This photo was from the Zoom meeting in November at the start of the project. They will be speaking (in German) about our Presentation College Re-Turn Initiative, answering questions from opposing teams and promoting our Re-Turn programme to the other schools in the competition on Friday 23rd January.  We wish them and their German teacher Ms Byrne the very best of luck as they prepare for the online Press Conference.

Well done to Ms Fogarty and her 6B LCVP class their fundraising efforts through their Re-Turn initiative! They have raised over €850 from collecting bottles/cans. They have just purchased a set of jerseys for the boys' soccer teams. They plan to continue their fundraising efforts to buy more jerseys for other extracurricular activities. Well done & thank you to all of the school community for supporting their initiative.

Please remember to put your Re-Turn plastic bottles into the orange bin beside the vending machine. The LCVP class are doing great work recycling the bottles and raising money for the school. We are involved in a German Sustainability competition and these are some of the posters that team members created.using Microsoft Copilot.

 

 

 

German Sustainability Competition

A group of four German students from Transition Year and Fifth Year have entered a new German speaking competition organised by the Goethe-Institut. The idea is to research a sustainability issue and to present this in an online forum answering questions from other teams and everything is through the medium of German. Ms Byrne will be leading the project and today we had our first Zoom meeting with the other participating schools. We are thinking of promotong our school Re-Turn initiative and will decide later on having done our research on the exact topic we will investigate. The project will have three phases and phase one is completing sustainability modules on the GIImagine App. The second phase will be working on a project. This phase runs until early January. The third phase is the preparation for a Press Conference and the Press COnference itsself. This will take place at the end of January, We look forward to finding out more in the future.
