Minor Boys Soccer

Well done to the Minor Boys Soccer team, who comprehensively beat Borris College 5 - 1 at SETU on Wednesday. Borris brought a very physical game however our lads were up for the challenge. The lads are now through to the Division 1 Carlow/Kilkenny League final where they will play either St. Kieran's College or Tyndall College. Stand out performances from Tire Adeleye, Temi Adetoro, Jamaal Adegoke and Patrick Cranny.

Brendan Hayden, Carlow Gaelic Development Officer is introducing some First Year classes to various football skills and strength and conditioning exercises. He is been assisted by two Third Year SETU students, Niamh Gray ( Sports Science ) and Eoin Buenaventura ( Strength and Conditioning ). Students are really enjoying these sessions.

Congratulations to our Camogie team, their mentors Ms Maher and Ms Kinsella and their supporters. On Friday the team travelled to the Leinster Final and came home with the cup! First and Second Year girls took part in the Lidl #SeriousSupport programme with Anne Marie Doran yesterday. This initiative aims to reduce drop off rate in sport participation in young girls while promoting support for those who are still involved. Thank you to Ms Fogarty who organised this workshop and we look forward to welcoming Anne Marie back for the practical workshop in a few weeks time.

The Leinster Indoors took place at the weekend in TUS Athlone. Several athletes from Presentation College took part and medalled.  Congratulations to: Fifth Years  - Éanna Dunican and Sofia Granjo and Transition Years - Martin Nolan-Hosey and Jack Wickham. All four athletes represented St Laurence O'Toole's AC. Click on the heading for photos. 

Éanna Dunican won silver in the Leinster U20 60m; Sofia Granjo won gold in the Leinster U20 400m; Sofia and Éanna won gold on the SLOT 4x200m U19 mixed relay team; Sofia won silver as part of the SLOT 4x200m U19 girls team; Martin Nolan-Hosey won gold in both the U18 and U20 Pole Vault; and Jack Wickham won gold in the U17 Pole Vault .

Sixth Year student Michael Duke has been nominated for the annual Carlow Sports Star awards. The ceremony will be held this Friday evening at the Woodford Dolmen Hotel  He is receiving the rowing award for his achievements on the water with the national team during the summer. There is an online vote for the overall sports winner. If anyone wants to give him a vote they can do it online. There is no fee attached to the vote.Here is the link: Voting Link

Congratulations to the Presentation College/Gaelcholáiste Cheatharlach team who won their match in Presentation College yesterday. The final score was: 9:05 to 9:06. It was a  tight but exciting game versus Naas community college who travelled down to our school on a cold but bright morning.  Captains Roisín Murphy (Pres) and Emma Lyons (Gaelcholáiste).
