Presentation College Carlow recently hosted Options at Presentation College, Careers Fair, bringing together universities, further education and apprenticeship providers, employers and public services to give students opportunity to explore the wide range of pathways available to them after secondary school.
In attendance were ATU, DCU, IADT, Mary Immaculate, Maynooth University, MTU, NCAD, Trinity College, TUS, SETU, St. Patrick's Pontifical University Maynooth, UCC, UCD, University of Galway and University of Limerick.
Representing further education, training and apprenticeship providers were; Carlow Institute of Further Education and Training (CIFET), Grennan Equestrian Centre, KCETB, Kildalton College, MSD and NUA.
We also had Carlow Fire Services, An Garda Síochána and Óglaigh na hÉireann.
Our Parents' Council ran the Parents' Hub section with Carlow Credit Union, Carlow Regional Youth Service (CRYS), MABS and St. Catherine's.
We welcomed students from St Mary’s CBS, Gaelcholáiste Cheatharlach, St Leo’s College, Knockbeg College, Presentation De La Salle, Bagenalstown and Tyndall College (who will host some of our students at their Careers Fair next month).
Thirteen Student Ambassadors ably facilitated proceedings and were given due praise by our visitors.
Exhibitors didn’t disappoint with engaging presentations, portfolio clinics, exemplars of work and of course the all important merch. Students were given plenty of food for thought to support their career planning. They had opportunities to ask questions, collect information, discuss courses, apprenticeships, further education, employment, and different career pathways.
Our students were praised for their strong engagement.
Presentation College's Guidance Department would like to thank all of the universities, training providers, employers, public services and community organisations who gave their time, energy and expertise, as well as the Student Ambassadors, Parents’ Council, colleagues, especially the PE Department for allowing us to take over the space for the day. Most importantly, our students and those from the visiting schools, and their guidance counsellors, who engaged so enthusiastically with the event.
