A combination of the Presentation College and Gaelcholaiste Carlow have qualified for the South-Leinster semi-final after an emphatic 5.24 to 1.4 win over Tullow Community school on Wednesday morning at the Presentation grounds.
The Pres got off to a great start with points from James Ingram and Gaelcholaiste student Conal Fitzpatrick before Seamus Bible scored the first of the game’s goals after 5 minutes. The outcome of the match was settled shortly after when Paul grey netted again after excellent work from Dylan McGrath. Led by team captain Seán Buggy and Conal McGuire, the Presentation defence gave up very few scoring chances while creating excellent opportunities for their forward teammates, resulting in a half-time lead of 2.15 to 0.2.
Scores continued to flow in the second half with Peter Lynch grabbing the game’s best goal. The young corner forward showed great instinct and skill to divert a long ball that looked to be going wide passed the Tullow goalkeeper.
Two wins from two in the group stages means that the Pres will have home advantage for the South-Leinster semi-final with Knockbeg College being the likely opponents.
