📚✏️ Creativity in Junior Cycle English! 🎨🎬

Oct 16 2026

Ms. Kirwan’s 2AT and 3AP English classes have been busy exploring Roald Dahl’s 'Lamb to the Slaughter' and Seamus Heaney’s 'Mid-Term Break', in some wonderfully creative ways!

As part of their poetry study, students created colourful one-pagers on 'Mid-Term Break', bringing together key themes, quotes, imagery and poetic techniques. These are a fantastic way to capture their learning visually and make great revision resources too!

For 'Lamb to the Slaughter', students tackled a choice board challenge, where each activity had a different point value and they had to complete tasks adding up to 10 points.

There was something for everyone! From designing alternative book covers, posters and comic strips to writing diary entries and alternative endings, students had plenty of opportunities to show their understanding. Others got creative with podcasts, character interviews and even short film adaptations of the story! 🎙️🎭🎬

It was lovely to see students making their own choices, playing to their strengths and bringing their learning to life in so many different ways. Some fantastic creativity and effort on display! 👏🌟
