Over 1,000 young people gathered to go "All in for Change" with a focus on Solidarity & Fairness. As Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reminded us, "Europe is a shared vision"! ⚡️
Educators networked, shared best practices, and tested the European Parliament's brand-new educational resources ahead of their rollout across Europe. A major highlight was an inspiring exchange on the importance of civic education featuring EP Vice-President Sabine Verheyen.
The energy reached its peak on Friday in the Parliament's breathtaking Hemicycle for the European Youth Week kick-off. Over 1,000 passionate young participants gathered under the 2026 slogan "All in for Change", focusing on the theme of 'Solidarity and Fairness' and celebrating 30 years of volunteering in Europe.
The plenary session opened with powerful video addresses from the highest levels of European leadership. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen addressed the youth directly, stating, "Europe is more than a place. It is a shared vision". EP President Roberta Metsola also delivered an empowering message on the importance of youth voices. The morning concluded with an engaging conversation featuring Glenn Micallef, the European Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport.
An incredible week of civic engagement, reminding us all of the European Union's beautiful motto: "United in diversity" (In varietate concordia). 🌍🇪🇺
